Telepathx Announces Breakthrough Wireless Senor for high Voltage Insulators Enabling The Intelligent Energy Grid

// Update: Telepathx Develops new Reactive Zigbee & Wifi Sensor Tags

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 05/17/2008 - Telepathx announced today that it will start porting its reactive smart grid, environmental and event driven RFID sensing technology into new multi frequency & protocol tags.

The 433Mhz ISM band threshold reactive sensors the company manufactures will now be available in 900Mhz and 2.4Ghz in the 802.15.4 Zigbee protocol and 2.4Ghz in the IEEE 802.11g standards.

James Eades Company CEO said the move necessary to accommodate the multi protocol and frequency requirements of Smart meter, BPL/PLC and WIFI equipment OEM's and operators whom are vying to leverage their technology platforms beyond there current capacities.

This is a new era in sensing technology because we are integrating longer life, event driven self managing and the more autonomous reactive sensors into an active mesh radio network environment such as smart electric meters and by doing so solves two of the key shortcomings of remote mesh networks.

The immediate benefits said Eades would answer the remote sensor maintenance issue of not having to change batteries every few months, and the other real benefit of integrating the reactive sensing technology into an active mesh radio environment was avoiding data overload issues now confronting many network managers.

Eades added that ‘as a smart grid developer and enabler we are keenly aware of the mass volumes of data that can be generated by active mesh networks, this coupled with the power supply issue where most likely the key reasons in our abandoning active mesh sensing technologies last year.

Energy managers don’t need extra maintenance issues; they just want to know where, when and what they are having a problem with, and by porting the technologies into smart meter or AMR/AMI and BPL/PLC platform it would allow energy companies to deploy a self managing smart grids from end to end by leveraging their infrastructure investments.

About Telepathx
