TPX Energy
offers several enabling communications technologies for developing
smart grids in both rural and urban areas.
All Access
Points act in a similar way; they monitor large amounts of RF based
sensor devices in either 433Mhz or 900Mhz frequencies and concentrate
that data into a number of outgoing communications modes.
This approach
allows our utility clients to choose a number of technologies that
would best fit into their existing communications networks.
Once a fault
message is sent it is received into Karnack the TPX Energy Distribution
Automation Routing Engine. Karnack takes minimal field data, identifies
the fault, event, condition and asset description GPS coordinates etc,
and then routs the information to the designated GIS, asset or outage
management system in a number of protocols.
These protocols
include DNP3 serial, DNP3 LAN, Modbus serial, Modbus Plus, TCPIP, ICCP
and IEC 61850 protocols.
When used in a
smart metering environment Karnack receives data from mete data
management systems (MDMS) then identifies and routs the information.

working with a number of leading smart meter and smart meter
communications firms on integrating the TPX Energy Distribution
Automation platform into their respective technologies.

TPX
Energy Cellular / Mobile Access Points are field programmable state of
the art fully self contained multi protocol sensor data concentrators
and gateways. Access Points are available in AC or DC power
supply and a 433 or 900 MHz ISM band transceiver.
TPX
Energy Access Points come with a universal chassis allowing utility
customers to cost effectively upgrade from on spectrum to another when
needed. This development has been designed to facilitate upgrades in
the field.
All TPX Energy Access Points are capable of monitoring 80-100 unique
Pinpoint RFID sensors simultaneously, in are area covering 40,000 sq
meters (125,000 sqft).
The main function of the Access Points is to identify and verify faults
and events, compile alarm message then report; location and fault
details via SMS message or to a desktop computer instantly.
The Access Points can monitor and report very specific asset details
after it has been verified in its internal memory, from its embedded
database.
The Access Points range to sensor is determined by sensor signal
strength. The pinpoint thermo actuated sensor range is 100-125 meters
(328-410 feet) in any single line of sight direction. Or 200-250 meters
(656-810 feet) edge to edge
