Using infrared
thermal imaging to monitor distribution transformers is a proven
technology for determining transformer health and life; the only
problem is you need to be there to see the faults when they are
happening.
Other means for
monitoring transformers are more intrusive, very costly and require the
interpretation of statistical data; not a good option when you need to
monitor several thousand transformers on your grid. That is until now.
