Monitoring mid span compression joints and other apparatus on remote transmission grids used to involve expensive helicopters surveys and thermo graphic imaging only to have the asset fault after the inspection was completed. TPX Energy`s smart grid distribution automation technology and platform solves this.

 

Using the TPX Energy`s Pinpoint sensors in conjunction with TPX Energy Satellite based concentrator/Gateways or (Access points) to monitor compression joints and other apparatus gives asset managers advanced warning of cable connection failure and conditions that will significantly reduce maintenance and operational cost

 

The Pinpoint sensor has a range of 100 to 125 meters and communicates directly with the GSM/GPRS, 3G, CDMA or Satellite Remote Transmission Unit (access point) alerting you when and where a fault has been detected.

Listening for activated fault sensors at predetermined timed intervals (2 min, day, week) TPX Energy`s Access Points transmit a simple SMS message via satellite connection directly into back office asset and outage management system (OMS) once a month or only when a sensor has been activated.

 

Sending a simple SMS via space is significantly reduces operational cost such as those associated with streaming GPRS systems.
